Officiating Clinic - Update 8/29/20

2020 - 2021 Officials Clinics Update

Following recent updates from Manitoba’s public health officials, Hockey Manitoba has made the decision that effective Tuesday September 29, 2020, all Level 1 and Level 2 officiating clinics will transition to an online format.

Individuals registered for Level 1 and Level 2 officiating clinics will receive a Zoom invitation and will be required to complete their testing online so access to a computer is necessary.  All Zoom sessions will begin at 9:00 a.m. and participants will receive confirmation from Hockey Manitoba that they are a certified official following the clinic.

Please note: There will no longer be an on-ice session for Level 1 and Level 2 officiating clinics.

Please check the eHockey website for officiating clinic information and the Officials section of the Hockey Manitoba website for any updates for the 2020 – 2021 season.

Hello Officials,

On-ice officials in Manitoba are asked to please take note of the changes for the upcoming 2020 - 2021 hockey season.

For new officials, and returning Level I and Level II officials, in-person certification clinics will not start until the first weekend in October.  This may be subject to change based on the situation within the province as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic.  These clinics will be in person and will run similarly to the previous season.

For Level III - Level VI officials, they are required to sign up for virtual (video conference) sessions to obtain their certification for the 2020 - 2021 season.  Along with the virtual clinic they will be required to pass the Hockey Canada exam online.  Links to the virtual clinics and exams will be provided when registering for the clinics.  These clinics will be available starting in late September.

Clinic registration will begin on September 1, 2020.  Please check the eHockey website for any clinics that you want to register for and the Officials section of the Hockey Manitoba website for any updates for the 2020 - 2021 season.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Stonewall Minor Hockey will again be hosting a Level 1 and 2 Officiating Clinic on Saturday, October 10th at the Stonewall Legion hall with an ice session at VMSC.  Spaces are limited and it is expected that this clinic will fill up again.

All returning officials must attend a clinic each year in order to be re-certified for the upcoming season.  New officials must be at least 13 years of age by December 31st and are required to complete the Hockey University Officiating 1/2 online course prior to registering for this clinic (separate registration charges apply). Returning Level I officials should review the Hockey University Officiating 1/2 online course content to ensure that they are prepared for their clinic (link can be found under the Clinics section of your "Participant Profile" in your eHockey account).

New officials 18 years of age and older may register as a Level II official and are not required to complete Level I. The Hockey University Officiating 1/2 online program and the Respect in Sport for Coaches and Activity Leaders are required prior to registering for this clinic. Advancing Level I to Level II officials must be 16 years of age as of December 31st and must complete the Respect in Sport for Coaches and Activity Leaders prior to registering for this clinic.

Note that you can register for a clinic outside of your region should there be one with a more suitable date for you.

Stonewall Minor Hockey will reimburse clinic fees provided that a minimum of six games are officiated for the Association.

More information, as well as a link to the clinic registration, can be found on the Officials page of the Hockey Manitoba website.
