Online registration is open. Evaluations and pre-skates will take place in September and October - schedule and groups for evaluations is available HERE Evaluations will take place only if there are enough registrants to form more than one team in a tier. More information about evaluations can be found in the SMHRA by-laws in section #8.

**Additionally: if a male U11, U13, U15 or U18 team plays in the city league, those team(s) must re-imburse SMHRA for all of their subsequent Hockey Winnipeg League fees by February 28, 2024.

Payments can be made by credit card (payment plan) or e-transfer (in full at time of registration). Cash, Cheque or paypal will not be accepted.
- If paying by e-transfer, you must select 'pay by cheque' during registration.

- Initial payments received after August 31, 2023, will be subject to a $50 late fee penalty.
- In addition to the initial hockey fees, parents should expect to pay additional fees for tournament entries, extra practice ice and a wind up/end of season get together. Any additional fees, team budget, and team fundraising/sponsorship will be agreed upon as a team and will be collected by the team manager.
- SMHA hosts several tournaments throughout the season which are fundraisers for the SMHA and the host teams. Parents may choose to volunteer on the tournament committee. Each family will be required to fill tournament volunteer shifts which will be equally distributed. CLICK HERE for tournament dates.
- If a surplus of funds remains in the team account at the end of the season a refund may be given to families (refunds must not be greater than fees collected from each family at the start of the season). Fees or expenses that have been offset by fundraising will not be refunded.
- At least one parent/guardian per registrant will be required to complete the Respect in Sport for Hockey Parents prior to the season start. If a parent has not completed the course your child will be unable to start the season. CLICK HERE to access the online course.

COACHES REGISTRATION:
Coaches must register through the Hockey Canada website. Please refer to the SMHA constitution and by law document, by-law #9 for coaching and bench staff requirements prior to submitting your application. If you are interested in volunteering to coach a team for the current season, please familiarize yourself with the Certification Requirements for the position you are volunteering for and ensure these are completed in advance of the deadline, December 1, 2023. In addition, all coaches registering for a clinic must also complete the Respect in Sport – Activity Leaders online course. Certification clinics will be available starting September 5, 2023.

REFUNDS:
- A refund may be requested in writing to the SMHA Treasurer and Registrar up to December 31 of the current hockey season.
- Once a refund is requested, the player may not participate in any SMHRA activities.
- If a player has not participated in any SMHA activity and a refund is requested prior to September 30th, 100% of the registration, less a $50.00 administration fee is refunded.
- Refunds will not be issued for any form of disciplinary action including suspensions issued by SMHRA or other governing bodies.
- Hockey Canada Insurance, Hockey Manitoba Registration and Interlake Minor Hockey portions of the total SMHA registration fees are 100% non-refundable once a player has taken part in any SMHA activities.
If a player has participated in any SMHA activity, the remaining registration fees (after non-refundable fees have been calculated) shall be refunded based on the date the request is received by the SMHA treasurer and Registrar as follows:
- Prior to September 30th, 80% of the remaining registration fee is refunded.
- October 1st to 31st, 75% of the remaining registration fee is refunded. November 1st to November 30th, 50% of the remaining registration fee is refunded.
- December 1st to December 31st, 25% of the remaining registration fee is refunded.
- No refunds will be issued after December 31st except in the case of a significant injury with consideration by the board, through a vote.

FEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS:
Any families that register with SMHRA, then apply and are approved (qualify) for funding through one of the following programs in order to have a portion of their fees paid will have any remaining amount still owed to SMHRA waived.
